Orlando International Airport
is the major international airport location 10km south east of the central business district in Orlando, Orange County, Florida. It is a really busy airport, ranking 13th busiest in the world, and just behind Miami International as the busiest Florida airport. The airports code is MCO after its former name McCoy Air Force Base. Other airports servicing this area are Orlando Sanford Airport, Daytona Beach Airport, Melbourne Airport and Tampa Airport. With so much on offer in Orlando and in the state of Florida itself, it is not surprising that there are so many airport and that it is one of the busiest places in the world for car rental.

If you are planning a trip to Orlando for business or pleasure, you are in the car rental capital of the world. It is actually the largest car rental region in the world – so for that reason alone, we always recommend booking in advance to ensure you get the car you want and the price you want! You will find car rental companies in terminal A and terminal B on the ground floor. Most of the major car rental companies are located here and some of the smaller companies have desks at the airport and you will take a quick shuttle ride to collect your car. Always use the MCO airport code for Orlando International Airport as there are other airports which use the name ‘Orlando’.
Getting there & Away
If you are not taking a rental car from Orlando International Airport, then there are a few other options for getting to your destination. Firstly, if you are staying in a hotel, check if it provides a complimentary shuttle service. You can get a bus from the airport to downtown; International Drive, Florida Mall/Sea World, buses leave from the A-side of the main terminal on the ground level (level 1). Taxis are available on the ground level on both sides of the terminal. They can carry up to 9 passengers depending on the size of the taxi cab. Shuttle vans are available on the ground level on both sides of the terminal. Fares are charged per person.

Whether you are flying to Orlando airport for business or pleasure, you are probably not far from your destination! For business, you are close to; the Business District (9kms) and the Convention Centre (24kms). For pleasure, you will find these nearby; International Drive (24 kms), Lake Buena Vista (32 kms). For exciting day trips, there is so much to do in Orlando including; Sea World (28 kms), Universal Orlando (28 kms) and Walt Disney World (35 kms). You could also venture a little further to the Kennedy Space Centre where you can take different tours or for a really fun day, why not drive to Florida’s Cocoa Beach along the eastern coast.
