Malaga airport is a really busy airport, particularly at peak summer time when there are thousands of tourists just waiting to get to their destination. There is public transport and sometimes resort shuttles available, but by far the best way to get to your destination and to see what the Costa del Sol has to offer is with a rental car. You can book the car in advance, pick it up at the airport and be on your way to enjoy your time in the sun. There are seven main car rental providers located in the airport including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Sixt, Enterprise, Goldcar and Record. Getting there & Away
Malaga airport is hectic when you arrive and getting a taxi to many of the popular resort destinations can be costly. If you are looking to go by taxi, just be aware that there are minimum fees depending on whether your route is urban or further afield, day or night, and you can be charged more for larger pieces of luggage. There is an airport train which but it only goes as far as Fuengirola. Buses travel from the airport to Malaga city centre and to towns along the coast. These are really busy during the summer and more than likely you will have a long wait. By far the best way to travel around the Costa del Sol is with a rental car.

Malaga city is only about 10 minutes away, but the real attractions for the sun worshipers, the party animals, the golfers and the families looking for some rest and relaxation, is the resorts along the coast. All the main resorts are easy to access with your airport car rental and are only a short drive away. The most popular resorts are: Torremolinos (10 minutes), Benalmadena (15 minutes) Fuengirola (20 minutes), Calahonda (25 minutes), Marbella (30 minutes), Puerto Banus (40 minutes) and Estepona (60 minutes).
