National Car Hire
National Car Rental started out as a collaboration of twenty four independent car hire agencies. Between all the agencies they had a total of 60 hire cars around the United States. National has expanded and grown from this starting point in 1947. Now under the ownership of car hire giant Enterprise Holdings, the company also responsible for Alamo Rent a Car and Enterprise Rent a Car. Today National has more than 2,000 car hire location around the world and it is a very well recognised and respected car hire brand. Their 2,000 worldwide pick up locations are based in the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia.
Over the years, National have been very active in bringing changes and improvements to the car hire world. They were the first company to offer their customers one-way car hires which is a great service for customers as they can maximise the time they have on their trip by returning the hire car to another location for a fee. This is now a standard feature in car hire and provided by many companies.
They were also the first car hire provider move to computer based reservations which has revolutionised the market. National is always looking at ways of improving what they do and how they do it. They understand their customers and launch deals and programmes that appeal. They launched “flat rate” car hire deals for customers and they launched the Emerald Club which is their rewards programme. The Emerald Club allows customers a greater car choice, faster processing and paperless transactions. National is listening to its customers and this programme has a growing number of members, which is testament to its success.
