More About Palma de Mallorca Airport
Car rental in Mallorca is a great way to get to your resort or destination, but it is also a great way to explore the island and check out other towns and villages, explore the natural reserves on the island and find the perfect beach. Car rental is available at Palma Mallorca airport (and we have many more pick up locations on the island). In peak summer holiday periods it is essential that you book in advance as cars can be in short supply and so the prices go up – pre-booking your rental car in Mallorca is a must. Car Booker compares the prices from each car rental provider, so you can be sure you are getting the best price. Smaller cars are popular here as roads are not so big!
If you are not renting a car, there are a few other options to get to your destination such as bus, shuttle bus or taxi. The City Bus connects the airport with City Port (route 1) and S'Arenal-Airport (route 21) will go by hotels along Palma Beach, fares are €2.50 one way. There are shuttle buses and resort shuttles that all offer bus or minibus or private transfers to resorts, however, pricing varies considerably so it is worth check out a few companies before you book. Taxis can be pre-booked (very expensive) or take one at the airport terminal taxi rank (don’t get them anywhere else). Minimum airport fare is €12 including supplement, extras can be charged for packages or luggage.
One of the lovely things about Mallorca is that you are never far from where you want to be, from the airport you are less than 30 minutes from Illetas, Magaluf, San Agustin, Palma Nova, Port Nous, El Toro/Calvia; or 45 minutes from Santa Ponsa and only an hour from Alcudia, Cala D’Or or Puerto Pollensa. For day trips, we can recommend checking out other towns or for a little adventure why not try a day trip to Mondrago Natural Park, which is a great coastal reserve with wetlands and white beaches with turquoise blue seas. Or try the slightly scary but oh so beautiful drive to Cap de Formentor on the Northern Tip of Mallorca with stunning, dramatic scenery and sandy beaches.
