Los Angeles International Airport or LAX as it is sometimes known is the fourth busiest airport in the world and carried 61 million through its terminals last year. The airport site has been an aviation field since 1928 and was originally known as Miles Field. It started commercial operations in 1946 and the present LAX terminal was constructed in 1961 and has expanded over time to meet growing passenger numbers. There is a central complex which holds no less than nine passenger terminals that are all connected by a U-shaped two tier road way. Given the sheer volume of passengers and the airport size, we recommend that you have your onward travel plans sorted before you fly.
